New School in Arundel

At Fresh Architects, we are proud to present one of our latest project: a newly designed school in the heart of Arundel. This facility is a safe, thoughtfully crafted to support and nurture traumatised children. Every aspect of this school reflects our commitment to creating a positive and healing environment for its students.

Our primary goal in designing this school was to create a space that promotes the well-being and development of its young occupants. Recognizing the unique needs of traumatised children, we focused on designing an environment that is both calming and stimulating, providing the right balance for healing and learning.

Colour plays a crucial role in influencing mood and behaviour, especially for children who have experienced trauma. Our team carefully selected a soothing palette of soft blues, gentle greens, and warm neutrals. These colours help to create a serene atmosphere that reduces anxiety and encourages a sense of safety and comfort.

Attention to Detail

Every detail of the new Arundel school has been meticulously considered to ensure it meets the needs of its students. From the layout of the classrooms to the selection of furniture and materials, we have prioritized functionality, accessibility, and comfort.

Key Features Include:

Open and Flexible Spaces: Classrooms and common areas are designed to be open and flexible, allowing for a variety of activities and teaching styles. This adaptability helps accommodate the diverse needs of the children.
Natural Light and Ventilation: Large windows and strategic placement of skylights ensure ample natural light, creating a bright and uplifting environment. Good ventilation is also crucial in maintaining a fresh and healthy indoor air quality.
Safe and Secure Environment: Safety is paramount. The school’s design incorporates secure entry points, easy-to-navigate spaces, and thoughtful placement of rooms to ensure children feel secure and protected.
Therapeutic Spaces: Dedicated rooms for therapy and quiet reflection are integrated into the design. These spaces are essential for providing the support that traumatised children need.

Building this school was a collaborative effort. We worked closely with educators, psychologists, and local authorities to ensure that every element of the design supports the mission of the school. This partnership has resulted in a facility that is not only functional but also a beacon of hope and healing for the community.
